About the author

I am a book historian, which means that I am interested in the form and impact of texts – how they came to be, and what they did. I focus on handpress-period print produced in Britain in particular, but have published on later American print culture and am getting to know Continental European print better. Interests include ballads, broadsides, chapbooks, typefaces, woodblocks, diagrams, copyright history, the book trades, orality/literacy, manuscript/print, digitisation and born-digital books.

I am currently Digital Humanities Research Fellow for the Seebibyte project in the Department of Engineering Sciences at the University of Oxford.
