I'm writting this letter to you because only you can help me. My name is Yury Ofitserov, I'm from Russia.
I have got a big problem. I hope very much that you can help me.
That is what happened to me: I bought a used printing machine in Germany, paid money for it but the man who dealt with me, cheated me, stole my money and disappeared. After some time he wrote me a letter
and promised to send the
equipment to Russia or to return money. A year passed, but I haven't still received neither equipment, nor money.
The name of this man is Christian Liebl. He is the director of Printkontor based in Hamburg.
Looking through the websites, I found out that I wasn't the only victim of Christian Liebl. He has cheated 2 men, besides me, and I think that he will continue cheating people.

The conventional wisdom across the world is that Nigeria's main and probably only noticeable contribution to modern civilization is yahoo yahoo. Our country is regarded as the land of scammers and that
Europeans and other white people could do no wrong when it comes to 419. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Some whites are just as adept in 419 and if we remember our history, it was a form of yahoo
yahoo that the whites employed to colonise Africa in addition to taking hundreds of thousands of our people into slavery which was the bedrock of the labour that was used to develop the western world.
Coming back to the present, I am a recent victim of 419 by a German posing as a dealer of used printing machines on the internet, particularly the websites devoted mainly to the buying and selling of used
printing machines and which is generally seen as a credible market by the used printing machine industry.
The name of the German who dealt with me is Christian Liebl who I think should be about 40 to 50 years old. I later learnt that he also goes by the name Stefan Freitag. His company's name is
Printkontor.com based in Hamburg, Germany. Now, I have bought quite a number of machines through the internet over the years from places like Sweden and England without coming face to face with the sellers
and they all kept their word. The used printing machine business is a multi-million dollar global enterprise based on trust and confidence between sellers and buyers who may never meet.
Based on past experiences and what I had read about the integrity and character of the German people, I didn't expect anything to go wrong when I made enquiry about a prepress machine that he said was
available for sale. After weeks of communication by emails we finally agreed on a price. Cost of the used Mako 46 prepress machine and freighting was totalled $7,100. I sent the money and expected to get
the machine delivered in two weeks.
That was when he stopped replying my emails. He wouldn't pick my calls either. After two months of futile attempt to get across to him, I became fed up, realising finally after weeks of denial that
something was terribly wrong. I, therefore, threatened to petition the German embassy in Lagos and the Hamburg police about the fraud. I knew the average white man would not want his crime to be exposed to
the police. As I expected, he replied immediately, claiming to have been ill and in hospital.
He then began to make promises upon promises but no machine arrived and he did not refund my money. Eventually, I wrote to all the major dealers of used printing machines in Germany to let them know about
the black sheep in their midst. Many did not bother to reply. A few who did promised to assist, but one in particular told me that the man was a confirmed conman and that unless I put pressure on him I
might not get the promised machine or my money.
I also learnt that he had earlier defrauded Lambert, a Camerounian of 14,000 Euro and the victim had got a lawyer to sue him. When pressure from me became too much, he owned up to the fact that he didn't
have the machine I wanted. He said that he had another machine, which is better and more sophisticated only if I could add 1,000 Euro.
I declined the offer, insisting that he either refunds my money or my petition will put him in trouble. Thereafter, he began to call me often and promised to pay last week. I went to my bank to confirm
last week. There was nothing. When I called him on phone, he said he had paid but that such telegraphic transfer normally takes up to eight days to get to the recipient. This week, I will know if this
conman has kept his promise or not. If he has not, the options of a formal complaint to both the German embassy and the police in Hamburg is there. I could also decide to join Lambert as a co-plaintiff and
send this dubious German to where he truly belongs- behind the iron bar.
The lesson to be learnt is that 419 is not a peculiar Nigerian thing. Criminality is not a matter of colour. The whites are just as bad if not worse. It is just that the western media is so entrenched in
the business of stereotyping Africa and its people as bad and good for nothing.
The same things happened to me. Christian Liebl played with me the same game.
I wrote several letters to the Police of Hamburg, to the German embassy, but nobody has replied me. I'm awfully indignant at the inactivity of the police of Hamburg. Because of this, it seems to me that
the police are concealing Christian Liebl, that is defaming Germany and German business
Honestly speaking, I was sure that German businessmen are the fairest businessmen. Unfortunately, my opinion has changed.
Would it be possible for you to give me an advice - what should I do to return the money?
I would be very glad, if you could help me to catch Christian Liebl in
order to save other people from his criminal business. Would it be possible for you to print my letter in your newspaper in order to prevent people?
Despite everything, I hope that in Germany there are honest and fair people.
